The district Telugu Desam (TD) unit plans to mobilise about 50,000 people for party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Rythu Poru Bata meeting in Palakurthy on Friday.

TD sources said that from Palakurthy constituency, represented by TD Telangana Forum convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao, 30,000 people are likely to attend besides 5,000 workers and farmers from each Assembly segment.

Though the TRS, TJAC, KUJAC, TSJAC and other pro-Telangana organisations like Telangana Medical JAC and Telangana Advocates JAC are protesting against Mr Naidu’s Poru Bata demanding his clear stand on Telangana, the TD activists are excited about his tour.

Even before his arrival, the tour programme had a positive impact on the district party unit as long seen intra-party rivals bridged their differences.

Mr Chandrababu Naidu last visited Warangal in May 2008 to attend the party’s ‘Mee Kosam’ tour.

His Rythu Poru Bata in Palakurthy constituency, where he would take out a 12-km padayatra connecting Lakshamapalli-Lakshamapalli-Vishnuru-Palakurthy, would be his first tour after the 2009 general election.

Sources said that heavy police bandobust will be placed all along the 12-km route from Chennur village in Palakurthy constituency, where Mr Naidu would start his padayatra towards the public meeting site at Palakurthy mandal headquarters. The police bandobust team comprises 12 DSPs, 44 CIs, 117 SIs, 200 ASIs/head constables, 1,588 police constables, 83 women constables besides one RPF platoon and 20 CRPF sections.

Meanwhile, preventive arrests and bind-overs continued to take place throughout Warangal even as district unit TD on one side and the TJAC/TRS on the other side, indulged in verbal duels over the TD chief’s ‘anti-Telangana stance’ the entire day.

The TRS sources said that as many as 3,000 people were taken into preventive custody ahead of Rythu Poru Bata in Warangal.

Taking potshots at TRS’ targeting of only TD on the T issue, the TD Telangana Forum convenor Mr Errabelli Dayakar Rao wondered why the arrival of visiting Congress’ AP state in-charge Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad went without any protests.
